NTUT Outstanding Chinese-Proficient Scholarship
1️⃣ Overview
To encourage international and overseas students to learn Chinese and enhance their language proficiency, Taipei Tech provides subsidies such as the 50% tuition waiver, TOCFL test fee subsidy, and Chinese Language Center course subsidy. These measures aim to support students’ language development and academic achievement.
2️⃣ Eligibility
A. Newly Admitted International Students

Must be officially admitted and registered (Bachelor’s / Master’s / PhD).

Eligible to apply for the 50% tuition & fees waiver (international students only).

Must complete the online health survey before enrollment; a health check and adjustment survey after enrollment are required.
-
Cannot receive ROC government scholarships or other NTUT scholarships concurrently.
B. Current International Students
Eligible for the following based on conditions:
1. 50% Tuition & Fees Waiver

TOCFL Level B or above
-
Previous academic year:
-
Academic average 70 or above
-
Conduct score 80 or above
-

TOCFL must show at least one level of progression (e.g., B1→B2) or reach C2 level
2. TOCFL Test Fee Subsidy

Achieve TOCFL B level or higher while enrolled at NTUT
3. Chinese Language Center Course Subsidy

Submit proof of enrollment for the semester of study

Must submit a new TOCFL result (any level) within 3 months after course completion
C. Overseas Chinese Students
Eligible for:

TOCFL test fee subsidy

Chinese Language Center course subsidy

D. Extended-Year Students
(5th-year Bachelor’s / 3rd-year Master’s / 5th-year PhD and above)

3️⃣ Chinese Proficiency Requirements

Only TOCFL (CAT format) is accepted.

For newly admitted students applying for the tuition waiver, the following may also be accepted:

Malaysia SPM Chinese

Malaysia UEC Chinese
-
Equivalency levels published by SC-TOP

4️⃣ Award Details
A. 50% Tuition & Fees Waiver (International Students)

Covers 50% of tuition & fees
-
Does NOT cover: miscellaneous fees, housing, insurance, books, internet fees, etc.
B. TOCFL Test Registration Fee Subsidy

Up to NT$2,000 per test

Limited to once per year
C. NTUT Chinese Language Center Course Subsidy

50% course fee subsidy
-
Limited to once per year

Based on actual course availability

B. Current Students

7️⃣ Renewal & Disqualification
Scholarship/subsidy may be revoked and reimbursement required if:

Student suspends or withdraws from studies
-
Fails to complete registration within deadlines
-
Stays outside Taiwan for more than 1 month during the award period

Commits major legal violations
-
Receives disciplinary action of one major demerit or above
-
New students fail to submit the OIA safety seminar certificate before the second semester
-
For Chinese course subsidy: attendance below 80% or failure to submit TOCFL within 3 months

Award quota is based on annual budget and number of applicants

Quotas cannot be carried over to the next academic year
