International Graduate Student Scholarship

The International Graduate Student Scholarship provides full tuition waiver and monthly stipend for outstanding postgraduate students at Taipei Tech, including international students, Overseas Compatriot Students, and dual-degree program students.


Quick Facts

  • Target: Master’s and PhD students (international, Overseas Compatriot, and dual-degree students)
  • Award:
    • Master’s: Full tuition waiver (up to 2 years; up to 1 year for dual-degree students) + NT$6,000 monthly stipend in the 1st year
    • PhD: Full tuition waiver (up to 4 years) + NT$12,000 monthly stipend (up to 4 years)
  • Issuing Period:
    • Fall intake: September to next August (12 months)
    • Spring intake: March to next February (12 months)
  • Application: New students apply when submitting admission application; current students must apply for renewal every year.

1. Target & Award

1) Eligible Students

  • Postgraduate students enrolled in Master’s or PhD programs at Taipei Tech.
  • Available for international students, Overseas Compatriot Students, and dual-degree program students (depending on program contracts).

2) Award Details

Master’s Programs
  • Full tuition fee subsidy: up to 2 years (up to 1 year for dual-degree students).
  • Monthly stipend NT$6,000: 1st year only.
PhD Programs
  • Full tuition fee subsidy: up to 4 years.
  • Monthly stipend NT$12,000: up to 4 years.

2. Issuing Period

  • Fall intake: September to next August (12 months in total).
  • Spring intake: March to next February (12 months in total).
  • The stipend is usually issued around the 15th of each month.
  • In the first month of each semester (September & March) and in January, the stipend may be issued later due to school accounting and enrollment verification.

3. Application for New Students

New students only need to apply for this scholarship when submitting their online admission application. The scholarship result will be announced together with the admission result.

Students who may NOT apply:

  • Students already receiving other financial aid from the Taiwan government or Taipei Tech.
  • Students engaged in full-time paid employment in Taiwan (those whose ARC is marked “應聘” are not eligible).

4. Renewal for Master’s Students

  • 2nd-year Master’s students may apply for tuition waiver renewal (stipend is only for the 1st year).
  • Requirement: 1st-year academic average must be 80 or above.
  • Each student may renew this scholarship for tuition waiver up to the 2nd year in total.

Renewal applicants must:

  • Complete the Online Health Questionnaire and Health Checkup after enrollment.
  • Complete the Overseas Students Safety and Security Seminar at least every once a year (announced on the OIA website).

5. Renewal for PhD Students

  • From the 2nd year onward, renewal will be based on the student’s academic performance and the number of published journal articles in the previous year (for PhD students only).
  • Each PhD student may renew the scholarship for up to four years in total.
  • Students must submit a renewal application every academic year in order to maintain scholarship eligibility.

Renewal applicants must:

  • Complete the Online Health Questionnaire and Health Checkup after enrollment.
  • Complete the Overseas Students Safety and Security Seminar at least every once a year (announced on the OIA website).

6. Semester Routine for Scholarship Recipients

For current scholarship recipients only.

Fall Intakes

  • June / Announcement: Watch for renewal announcements via email and on the OIA website.
  • July / Apply for Scholarship Renewal Online: Submit the online form and required documents within the specified period.
  • August / Tuition Payment: After receiving the renewal result, complete tuition payment as soon as possible. If the payment deadline has passed, print out the bill from the Bank of Taiwan website and pay at the bank or via ATM transfer.
  • September / Enrollment Confirmation Signing: Come to OIA to sign the enrollment confirmation form during the announced period and bring:
    • Tuition payment receipt
    • Student ID card
    • Valid ARC
  • September / Stipend Issue: After OIA confirms your enrollment status, the stipend will be transferred to your bank account. The first stipend of each new semester may be slightly delayed due to enrollment verification.
  • --> Prepare for the Next Renewal: About two weeks after the end of each semester, you may print your official English transcript to use for the next renewal application.

Spring Intakes

7. Scholarship After Suspension (School Resumption)

If you are currently taking a semester off and plan to return next semester, and you would like to apply for possible scholarship resumption, please follow the steps below:

Fall Semester (September) Return

  1. Send the reply slip attached to your official Letter of Suspension to the Office of Academic Affairs before the deadline on the slip.
  2. Fill out the online form for scholarship resumption before July 15.
  3. Please note that there is no guarantee that the scholarship will be resumed.

Spring Semester (February) Return

  1. Send the reply slip attached to your official Letter of Suspension to the Office of Academic Affairs before the deadline on the slip.
  2. Fill out the online form for scholarship resumption before January 15.
  3. Please note that there is no guarantee that the scholarship will be resumed.
