Admission Pathways
Three Ways to Apply as an Overseas Compatriot Student
Overseas Compatriot students may apply through any of the following three pathways. Each has a different application window and procedure — confirm which pathway applies to you before applying:

Confirm Your Eligibility
Overseas Compatriot students must have resided abroad continuously for 6+ years. HK / Macau students must hold a permanent resident permit and have resided outside Taiwan for 6+ years. Verify your category before applying.

Check Application Restrictions
Open only to applicants returning from abroad in the same year. Those currently studying at a Taiwan high school, university freshman year, or NTNU Preparatory Division are not eligible. Students previously enrolled at any Taiwan college are also excluded.

Language Requirements
Most programs require Chinese proficiency (TOCFL A2–C2 or HSK Level 4+). The Department of English requires English B2 or above. Malaysia UEC scores may substitute for Chinese proficiency.

Verified diplomas and language certificates can take weeks to obtain. We recommend completing your document set at least two weeks before the deadline.

Submit Your Application Online

Log in to the NTUT Overseas Student Admissions System during the application period. You may select up to 2 program preferences.

Submit; download the auto-generated application form and declaration, sign by hand, scan, and upload

Upload all required documents before the deadline

A confirmation email will be sent upon successful submission

Await Admission Results

Results will be published on the OIA homepage and sent via email. Admitted applicants must confirm their enrollment intention in the system by the deadline — failure to do so constitutes forfeiture of admission.

Students who have resided in Taiwan for 6+ consecutive months are required to join National Health Insurance. Low-income students may apply for a 50% subsidy through OCAC.
